Production meeting
Fri. Feb. 6: Edgar and I met this afternoon to discuss how he wanted the costumes to look. The set is going to be a backdrop of gold and purple fabric with thrones from stock and a village fountain. The females playing tailors will be dressed as females. Edgar wants Klaus to look like the period equivalent of a used car salesman, all hat and no cattle. I told Edgar that Hayden will wear the costume I made for him for Princess and the Pea, when he was cast as the King two years ago, and that I already had a red thermal underwear set for him pulled from stock. Edgar just wants it to look like a fairy tale and doesn't care what period as long as it is, a long time ago.

An easily-duped emperor and a cowed public prove a windfall for an unscrupulous tailor in an operatic adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes." McLennan Opera will stage the family-friendly opera Thursday through Sunday at McLennan Community College's Ball Performing Arts Center.
