The Build

The only thing I knew I had to build beforehand was the costume for the King.  It's a big project: shirt, pumpkin hose, doublet with two part sleeve, shoulder wings, and tabs.  I made his shirt and pumpkin pants out of fabric we already had, but I had to go buy more fabric for his doublet.  There was a great sale going on at Joanne's plus I had coupons, so I only spent about $250. for four fabrics. I got a gold velour for the doublet that I overlayed with the red floral lace.  I also got a metallic gold  brocade for the sleeves that I overlayed with a smaller scale floral lace.
Fri 2-23: scrounged for fabric and cut out the shirt and pants. 2:30-6
Sat 2-24: built the pants and shirt during the last show of Into the Woods. 7:30-11:30
Sun 2-25: went to Joanne's and bought more fabric 12-1
Mon 2-26: 11-6. cut out sleeves and tabs, serged them, measured princess prospects. Had a production meeting with Mandy.  She brought the crowns from Cotton Palace that we have used for Alice in Wonderland.  She said she would make the 3 matching royal gold necklaces.  One of the princess prospects needs to be in pink. Pansy needs to have a princess dress or cape that can quickly go over her nightgown for the end of the show.
Tues 2-27: 9:30-5 worked on the shirt-- hemmed the sleeves, put bias tape in the sleeves, and put elastic in the sleeves.
Wed 2-28: 10-5 hand stitched the lace onto the shoulder wings, gathered and attached the upper sleeves to the lower sleeves, then hemmed the lower sleeves.  Cut and stitched a collar for the shirt. cut cuffs for his pants legs, gathered the legs, and attached one cuff.
Thurs 2-29 Th: 9:30-2:30 finished putting the other cuff on Hayden's pant leg, added some elastic in there too,  and did his fitting.
